AfroChampions Initiative commits USD 1 million for an awareness-raising campaign to promote the AfCFTA!

What is worth highlighting after the AU’s Extraordinary Summit  in Kigali is the alignment between the public and private decision-makers on the urgency to implement the African Continental Free Trade Area – This is the first time ever that a public-private dialogue on economic policy takes place at continental level.

At the AfroChampions Initiative, we definitely want to be part of this movement and work with the African Union Commission to support the AfCFTA’s implementation in the next years. We are happy to announce the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the African Union. The AfroChampions Initiative thus becomes an official platform of exchange between the African private sector and the leaders of the African Union, and in particular its department in charge of Trade and Industry. As part of this roadmap, various awareness-raising and private sector consultation activities will be carried out by the AfroChampions Initiative and its partners. Through our members we have indeedcommitteda USD 1 million budget for an AfCFTA sensitization campaign.
